Dr. Sonja Kreß
Sonja specializes in data protection, an area on which she advises national and international clients. She mainly focuses on employee data protection law and the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
Sonja studied law at the University of Tübingen. She gained experience at an international commercial law firm, while carrying out her legal traineeship/legal clerkship at the regional court of Ulm, and during her stay at the School of Administrative Sciences in Speyer. She enhanced her experience by working in the legal department of a multinational corporation in Stuttgart. During her studies and legal traineeship, she focused on (private) commercial law.
After her legal traineeship, Sonja achieved a PhD, within an extra-occupational program which involved practicing at a large, international Stuttgart-based automotive supplier. In doing so, she gained an in-depth insight into the activities of the compliance and data protection departments. Her final dissertation concerned the extent to which data protection law set limits to the corporation where she was practicing in the framework of her compliance-activity. She then focused on the General Data Protection Regulation, which has entered into force in the European Union in May 2018. She has joined BRP as lawyer in 2016.
Sonja speaks German and English.
